It was back in 7th Aug 2002 that i first laid eyes on him. There was no 'turning back' since then. Through him i've learned so much, with him the world seems brighter and because of him i've found much more than love. Forever and always... Absolutely Bae Yong Joon ! 처음사랑 끝까지...
Excuse my ignorance. I've been scratching my head the whole day, searching through each and every one of my limited brain cells (which got done real quick), I still can't figure what "skinship" is???
I can't bear the mystery anymore. Enlighten me please .....
hee... actually depending on where you come from, skinship can mean different things.
but here's a quick answer... skinship refers to the feelings of relatedness and affection between two people, particularly a mother and a child, caused by hugging, touching, and other forms of physical contact.
okay, and here comes the long version answer... it all began in japan, i believe, sort of like a japanese word coined from english words. this is a melding of the word “skin” and the suffix “ship,” it refers to physical contact between two people and the attendant feelings of affection it creates.
in japan, the word skinship (スキンシップ) is a Japanese word coined using English root origins, initially to describe the closeness between a mother and her child due to the physical contact of their naked skin. i believe the word was first coined in the early 70s.
Contemporary use of the word includes the close relationship that develops between friends or coworkers when they share their nakedness at a public bathhouse (kōshū yokujō, which includes onsen and sentō), stripping away the social construct that would otherwise differentiate them as boss and employee or senior and junior.
okay, but if you come from korea, skinship is mainly used by Koreans speaking English to describe a casual physical/sexual relationship.
yokee, am i right? or have i been totally off?
p.s. so i take it yokee's trying to describe her physical attraction to yong joon?
p.p.s wah piang, my comment sounds so technical and proper for such an 'improper' word :p
bb ar... tho i knew what it meant when i first got to know of the word but i din know the word was originated from japan.
physical attraction? well just imagine him standing there right in front of u with his back facing u. his back being one of his MOST attractive part....what do u think u'll wanna do???
wouldnt that one word 'skinship' describe it all? whatever thats on ur mind whatever that u wanna do...'skinship' fits just perfectly..no? :p ooh~~~@@~~
O thank you thank you bb for the detailed explanation.
Ah-la-soh! Yokee, I wonder if you are thinking of the Japanese, contemporary or the Korean way of "skinship"?? Since Yong Joon is a Korean, umhmm, I think I like the "Korean" way (hehe!).
